In celebration of Earth Day, the Environmental Club at Lakewood Elementary created a "Styrofoam Butterfly Garden" art installation to bring to light an environmental issue. The display is made from 500 Styrofoam lunch trays, the amount used at the school each day. Under direction of Mrs. Debbie Yatko, the environmental club sponsor, the students worked collaboratively to collect, paint and tape up 500 Styrofoam trays.

The installation is accompanied by a museum label, which invites students to consider: "What can WE do about it? How can we take better care of our earth?"
