HEB ISD and the John F. Kennedy German/American Community School in Berlin, Germany have establish a sister school relationship, upon the signing of an official memorandum of understanding in April. This relationship will allow opportunities for students at both schools to share their cultures, including the potential for student and teacher educational trips overseas.
The John F. Kennedy school, founded in 1960, is a bilingual, bicultural, K-12 institution, located in Berlin. The school is a tuition-free German public school governed under a special act of the Berlin parliament for the purpose of creating binational understanding. The school's 1700 students come from varied social and economic backgrounds and are 55% German, 40% American, and 5% other nationalities.
