At a luncheon in December, Kim Stevens and Fritzie Odom were named as HEB ISD's Elementary and Secondary Counselors of the Year. Superintendent Steve Chapman with Assistant Superintendents Joe Harrington and Mary Stokic were on hand to recognize the counselors for all they continue to accomplish.

Selected praise from the Counselor of the Year nominations:

Kim Stevens is a truly exceptional school counselor. Her compassion for and commitment to the students at Harrison Lane Elementary is evident every single day. From standing in the front hall greeting students as they enter the building each morning, to evenings spent teaching parenting classes, Kim's service to the school community is so comprehensive and pervasive that it is difficult to imagine the school without her.

Fritzie Odom is an ambassador for the L.D. Bell High School community who works tirelessly for the staff and students at the school. Her work regarding the master schedule is critical to student achievement and allows the school to maximize academic and extra-curricular opportunities for students. She is warm, caring, compassionate, intelligent, and persistent as she contributes to the lives of "her kids" at Bell.
