The Shady Oaks Elementary staff and students welcomed back a favorite author, Obert Skye, for his fourth visit to the school since 2007! Mr. Skye discussed his four popular series: "Leven Thumps," "The Pillagy," "The Creature from My Closet," and "Witherwood Reform School."
He related the fantastic story of how he became an avid reader, and told the students that the first step to becoming a fantastic writer is to READ voraciously! He talked with students in 3rd grade through 6th grade about the six steps of his writing process, and then spent time with just the 4th graders going into more detail on the writing process.
We would like to thank Mark Brown, the community resources manager at Barnes & Noble, for scheduling the book signing there. A portion of the profits will return to HEB ISD. We would also like to thank all of the families who attended Mr. Skye's book signing.
